Caz Scott

Caz Scott

Oils. Original Art, Prints & Cards

Caz Scott is motivated by the dramatic landforms and wildness of the coast and spends long periods walking, observing and sketching, before returning to her Weymouth studio to paint. Here she begins with a raw umber underpainting which provides a depth and intensity of colour not achievable on a white canvas. She then creates a base sketch in charcoal, ensuring a balanced composition and structural accuracy that ensures the landscape has strength and credibility. The painting itself is then completed in oils.

'I’ve always loved stained glass and I aim for a balance of colour and shape. I want to shed light on the landscape, to light up a room.'

Her work certainly caught the eye of South West Trains, who used her Durdle Door image to wrap several of their carriages . Their aim? To 'brighten up the dullest of winter days' by bringing a 'burst of summer colour' to stations as the special carriages pass through from London Waterloo to Dorset.

We often have originals in the gallery which haven't yet made it online, please contact us for details.
